97 points. Four barrels. The first Bordeaux blend LXV has ever released — inspired by the great estates of St. Émilion Grand Cru. G2N Vineyard Cab Franc and Merlot, Willow Creek District.
Tasting Notes
ColorDeep ruby with violet hue
NoseAn inviting and unmistakably old-world aromatic — warm tobacco and forest floor. Generous on the palate with round, rich tannins. Notes of dark fruit, quite masculine, bold presence.
PalateEvolution on the palate reveals more layered aromatics — hints of violet and strawberry — with a medium-grained tannin that, coupled with acidity, keeps the wine lively and engaging. Rich entry with notes of sous bois; texture and tempo develop later in evolution. A gregarious wine — playful, jocular, still grounded in tradition and pedigree. Certain austerity at finish with larger, more woody tannin structure. Retro-nasal dried herbal notes.
