100% Cabernet Franc from G2N Vineyard, Willow Creek. 2022 was our first vintage from Bill Gibbs' soon-to-be-famous G2 North property. The bottom of the block was harvested four weeks after the top, benefiting from additional ripening after the heat wave.
Tasting Notes
ColorDeep ruby color with purple hues, showcasing youth and vitality.
NoseIntensely aromatic with black cherry, cassis, and red plum. As it opens: layers of violet, bell pepper, graphite, cedar, tobacco, and earthy forest floor, complemented by sweet spices like cinnamon and clove. Also: fresh Rainier cherries, strawberries, herbs, pink peppercorn, rose petals, and vanilla.
PalateFull-bodied with harmonious balance of acidity and tannins. Ripe dark fruits: blackcurrant, blackberry, and plum. Mid-palate complexity: green peppercorn, dried herbs, and distinctive minerality from calcareous soils. Montpensier oak adds nuances of vanilla, toast, and light spicy notes enhancing texture. As it moves across the tongue: cassis, herbs de Provence, and fresh ground espresso. Long and refined finish — dark chocolate, black tea, and smokiness. Silky yet structured tannins with excellent aging potential.
