The Jewel is LXV's nod to Super Tuscans, blending Sangiovese with an international grape and casting traditional Italian wine laws to the wind. The slightly wild, cut Sangiovese comes from White Hawk in Santa Barbara County while the Petit Verdot from Paso acts as an anchor, grounding the untamed Sangiovese and rounding out the palate, melding a cooler, leaner Sangiovese with a darker, more voluptuous Petit Verdot.

Tasting Notes
NoseA clean, ripe expression of red fruits and stewed dark fruits, from black cherries to red plums, with stewed plum at the core and brighter black cherry around the edges; sandstone, savory aromas, dried herbs, brown leather, a flicker of scorched orange peel, and light oak-driven clove.
PalateRipe and stewed fruit confirmed with baked cherry and baked plum over a savory base; dry, medium alcohol, medium acidity, and medium-minus tannin, with a small percentage of new French oak beautifully integrated. Soft texture and an old-world, restrained European style.
